A joyful Greek island wedding

A joyful Greek island wedding

Dianna and Lucas, Italians, live in Brussels, decided to get married on Hydra after they falling in love with the island during their holidays. They hosted their wedding next to the beach, overlooking the sea. The traditional and scenic scenery inspired them so much that they decided to have a Greek-style wedding. Greek and Italian cultures are close so that was easy.

The theme was Greek- Italian with a twist. The twist was bride’s dress! Dianna wore a beautiful silk purple sari and a bracelet of baby’s breath and white orchids instead of a bouquet.

Couple arrived on a traditional Kaiki. The ceremony took place at Agios Charalampos chapel. They tied the knot under the blue sky, next to the waves, surrounded by a lively and loud crowd.

The wedding dinner and party took place at Marina’s tavern. The decor was simple: the taverna’s tables and chairs and a lantern with baby breath on each table.

A Joyful, emotional and full of fun celebration.

What a better start of a new life? And now they live happily after.

An intimate wedding in Hydra island Greece

An intimate wedding in Hydra island Greece

Christina and Ramsey hosted an intimate wedding on the island, The concept was a wedding on the rocks! And it turned out to be a windy wedding on the rocks!

Because love comes in waves.

Our beloved couple have been visiting Greece and Greek islands for many years. The love with Hydra was love form first sight. The decision to hold the their special day here was instant. Wedding’s palette was white. Fresh and clean, like the scenic landscape. Pure like their love.

An off the beaten path ceremony: It was held at Hydroneta bar. Just on the rocks, with a spectacular view to the sea and sunset. A floor high garland with white roses and baby breath was set just next to water. A vivid crowd, a  blue sky and the sound of waves create the most unique atmosphere!

Our couple: Easygoing, stylist ( Bride and Groom wore custom made sneakers in vivid blue color), dazzling and absolutely gorgeous!

The wedding dinner took place at Omilos restaurant. A beautiful venue with one of the best balcony on Hydra. The dinner and party decoration was in the same concept and color. Two different types of candles and vases with baby breath.Fresh. Stylist. Elegant. Effortless chic. Perfectly matched with the venue and the island. Dinner was served under the candles light. Guests tasted fine Greek cuisine and wine, enjoying the Greek hospitality.

I always love working with creative couples and designing extraordinary weddings and events. It was an amazing wedding. A day to remember. I feel honored and blessed to be part of it.

Hydra with its breath-taking scenery, the unique architecture, aesthetics and a landscape that looks like no other, is a truly unique destination. A destination for couple that love adventures, art, natural beauty and do not afraid to dare!

Thank you Christina and Ramsey!

Elopement on Hydra!

Elopement on Hydra!

WHY ELOPE? A big wedding doesn’t appeal to you. You don’t want the stress, the family pressure or you are not a big party fan. Then you should consider eloping!

Do you need more reasons? Here are few!

  • Just “Us” experience
  • Authenticity
  • Intimacy and intention
  • Valuing experience over stuff
  • Less stress and anxiety
  • Life is meant to be an adventure
  • Amazing photos

An elopement is usually done in secret, will be attended by just the couple marrying, the two witnesses and few dearest friends or relatives. Ceremony takes place in a remote and romantic location. Often, with a special meaning for the couple.

Small weddings are relaxed and wonderful. You have more time to enjoy the island and spend time together with your relatives and friends. However, it doesn’t mean you have to compromise on style or the type of day you want. Although the guest list will be small, your Big Day can be big on style and atmosphere.  You can also extend your wedding to a three-day celebration.

Because getting married should be authentic and intentional!

WHERE ELOPE? With its gorgeous port and lively nightlife, Hydra is Greece’s answer to St-Tropez and Portofino. Instead of the characteristic whitewashed cubes, Hydra town—reached directly from the port city of Piraeus via a 95-minute hydrofoil—has stunning Venetian- and Genoan-designed gray-and-white mansions and a decidedly Greek, but appealingly cosmopolitan, atmosphere.

Warm weather, whitewashed houses, cobalt sea, tranquility, perfect weather, stunning sunsets, delicious food, tasty wine and the best wedding locations make HYDRA the best place to elope!

SHALL I NEED A WEDDING PLANNER? Because your wedding will be small doesn’t mean you don’t need a planner. Having someone local with great vendors contacts and who’ll be there on the day to make things run smoothly will reduce stress and help you enjoy the day.

I remember every single elopement and small wedding I have planned! Emotional and unforgettable. Full of memories and great fun!

What about a wedding like a big party under the moon light and why not including jumping into the crystal blue waters of Hydra?

And what about saying I DO in front of a traditional chapel built with wine?

Excited? Me too!

The new wedding trend is called Micro wedding

The new wedding trend is called Micro wedding

But what are the differences among an elopement, an intimate wedding and a micro wedding?

A micro wedding is a wedding with less than 20 guests. Being smaller in size, it’s more relaxed and gives you the opportunity to spend lots of quality time with your other guests before and after the ceremony.

An elopement is usually done in secret, will be attended by just the couple marrying the two witnesses and few dearest friends or relatives.Ceremony takes place in a remote and romantic location. Often, with a special meaning for the couple.

An intimate or small wedding is generally considered to have between 30 and 60 guests. Both intimate and micro weddings are a full wedding day, just on a smaller scale.

Because your wedding will be small doesn’t mean you can’t have a planner. Having someone local with great vendors contacts and who’ll be there on the day to make things run smoothly will reduce stress and help you enjoy the day.

I remember every single elopement and small wedding I have planned! Emotional and unforgettable. Full of memories and great fun!

What about a wedding like a fairy tale riding a white horse to meet your prince of your heart ?

And what about saying I DO on a remote beach during the most beautiful sunset?

Excited? Me too!

What I love about Spring Weddings

What I love about Spring Weddings

There are so many things I love about spring.

Hydra in Spring

Landscapes transform with new colours and fragrances. Light is soft and birds are signing.

After a long winter, warmer temperatures and spring sunshine lift our spirit.

When the spring rolls around they erupt in explosions of color as myriad wildflowers come into bloom. The hills literally buzz with life as butterflies, bees and many spectacular migratory birds do their thing in these unique ecosystems. The incredible bouquet of natural fragrances that is carried on the breeze only heightens the spectacle. It’s truly a nature-lovers paradise.

What a beautiful time for a new begging!

Longer Days

After the clocks change, and the weight of the long winter nights has lifted, you can look forward to the prospect of longer, softer light for your wedding portraits and group shots. This lovely stretch in the daylight hours also means your guests can enjoy some outdoor time before the evening meal.

The Symbolic Meaning of Spring

Spring weddings symbolize a new beginning and a bright future.

Pastels

Pastels and spring go hand in hand and for those of you who are dreaming of a romantic, vintage themed wedding accentuated by a soft palette of pastels, setting your date in spring will give you the perfect backdrop.

Flowers

With the onset of spring, comes the growth of some of our favourite bouquet blooms. Costs are relatively low for spring flowers such as tulips, daffodils and peonies and we love nothing more than seeing brides and bridesmaids walk down the isle with blooms that are homegrown. Keep in mind that the temperate climate in spring will also keep your bouquet looking fresh from morning until night.

And more

Choosing a spring wedding date can let you enjoy some of the advantages of a summer wedding; milder weather, extended daylight hours and fresh colourful styling options. Some of the advantages the spring wedding has over the summer wedding are that you won’t be competing for dates that are highly sought after and it is unlikely that any of your guests will be on holidays at this time.

Unlike the summer months, where you’ll find some suppliers getting booked up two years in advance, spring wedding dates are more widely available and it is easier to secure your favourite suppliers.

All in all, I love Spring and Spring weddings and events!

How to plan a perfect wedding in Hydra

How to plan a perfect wedding in Hydra

If you are reading this, then you are considering having your wedding or event on Hydra.

Happy to hear you considering Hydra as a destination!

Hydra is a very picturesque and romantic island and I am sure you have already visited it. If not, you have already checked the Internet and have all the information you need.

So you choose the destination but you are still thinking if you need help for planning and organizing your wedding or event.

Organizing an event from another country or even continent is very difficult. It is difficult even if you live in another city.

Being an Hydriot and working more than 15 years on the island, gives me the privilege to stand out among the other planners. I am based permanently on the island and  you won’t have to pay any accommodation or travel expenses. In addition to this, I can address any questions or issues immediately at any time of the year. I have developed good working relationships with all service providers on the island and many on the mainland. My list includes some of the best professionals in Greece. I am also native Greek speaker which will ensure that communications with them will go smoothly without surprises.

I adapt my services to your needs and preferences—keeping in mind what’s feasible or practical in Hydra—so that you and your guests can relax and enjoy your celebration.

If you decide to have a civil/registry or church wedding several papers and legalities are needed.

Regulations vary by nationality and other details, such as place of birth, country of residence, and the laws of your country of citizenship. Several cases requiring additional documentation.

You will need someone to guide you in obtaining all necessary documents for either a registry or a church wedding.

If you’d like to have a church wedding, Hydra has a number of traditional churches and chapels to choose from. However, not in all of them weddings are allowed.

If you’d like to have a Registry (Civil) wedding, there are several locations to choose from. The same for any other kind of wedding.
But each location has got its own secrets.

I know all these secrets and I am happy to share them with you. 😉

And to come to venues, Hydra hasn’t got many but it has got the best! Great locations, great views, excellent food, wine and service are what make them the perfect events venues.

What make Hydra special is the fact that vehicles are forbidden. A few rubbish trucks, a fire truck, and an ambulance are the only motor vehicles on the island, as cars and motorcycles are prohibited by law. Horses, mules, donkeys, hand carts and water taxis provide all transportation.

My experience and my connections will help you to choose the best match for you, deal with any issue and protect you from unpleasant surprises.

All in all, I can help you save time and money.

Apart a ceremony venue, a reception venue and a good planner, you will need at least these vendors  for your Hydra wedding:

  • Photographer
  • Hair and make up pros
  • Cake baker
  • Florist & Decorator
  • Music pros
  • Sound and lighting pros
  • And more

Another questions is, what is the best theme for your Hydra wedding destination?

Here are some theme ideas to inspire you:

  • Rustic wedding
  • Vintage wedding
  • Oil Grove wedding
  • Traditional Greek wedding
  • Colour-themed wedding (with your favourite colour )
  • Chic Beach wedding
  • Flower-themed wedding (with the flower of your preference)
  • Eco wedding
  • Effortless chic
  • Elegant

I can also help you find a nice way to thank and entertain  your guests.

If you think to have a 3-day celebration (or more! The new trend is 7-days celebration!), I have plenty of ideas to bring on table and help you fill these days with fan and joy.

Let me share my new idea with you. I am so exited!

Off the beaten path weddings!

If you are an adventurous couple and would like to try something off the beaten path, no matter whether you are planning a large wedding or an intimate elopement, I know the spot for you.

Living on the island year-round and having an enquiring mind, I have found several amazing, little-known sites for holding events for just a few people or a reception of more guests.

Essential: A very good photographer and videographer to capture the DAY!

Being one of the most traditional and charming island in Greece, Hydra island is considered to be the perfect place for island Weddings. Comparing with other popular islands for weddings and events, it is not expensive as many may think. You just need the right person from inside.
